Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) in Peterborough, Ontario is seeking a Physician Assistant for Inpatient Surgical Services. The role focuses on surgical consults, pre- and post-procedural care, rounding, and unit-based quality and safety practices within acute care surgery.

The PA will work under a supervising Surgeon and with a multidisciplinary team, with potential surgical first assist duties. Requires PA accreditation, Ontario registration, and NCCPA or PACCC certification or

Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.$5000 Sign On Incentive in addition to our relocation incentive up to $5000.WHAT YOU’LL DO:As a Physician Assistant (PA) in Surgical Services, you will play a crucial role in the collaborative healthcare team of physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals participating in the day-to-day management of Acute Care Surgery patients. The position will contribute to surgical consults and pre- and post-procedural care, rounding and unit-based quality and safety practices. This role may also perform surgical first assist duties as needed. This position reports to the Director of Surgical Services and to the Chief of Surgery/Heads of Division for medical performance, works under the direction of the supervising Surgeon, and is supported by medical directives and policies.WHAT YOU’LL BRING:Graduation from an Accredited Physician Assistant program.Registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada (PACCC) or eligible to be certified by PACCC.Minimum 2 years of PA experience an asset.Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.WHO YOU ARE:Ability to work in a busy clinical environment and procedural space.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and families, as well as members of the multidisciplinary team.Capacity to assist with patient care in a manner that emphasizes quality and safety.Respect for patient confidentiality.Ability to recognize clinical scenarios that require immediate attention from the staff physician and other team members.Perform other cross-functional responsibilities as requested.Clinical duties will be during weekday shifts, may involve evening and weekendsThis position is for a current vacancy.OUR COMMITMENT:At PRHC, we take great pride in maintaining an inclusive culture of respect and a diverse workforce that reflects the community we serve.
