A leading health authority in Victoria seeks a Physician Assistant for the Emergency Department. The role involves providing clinical care under supervision, ensuring patient safety, and collaborating within a team. Ideal candidates will have relevant certifications and experience in emergency settings.
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
The Physician Assistant (PA), Emergency, performs clinical duties and responsibilities in accordance with the guidance provided by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC). Clinical care provided by the PA will occur at Saanich Peninsula Hospital (SPH) under the supervision of a PA Emergency Program Physician Supervisor (the Physician Supervisor). The PA reports to a Site Administrative Manager but is accountable to the Physician Supervisor or delegate for overall provision of quality of care and professional development. The PA supports the provision of continuous care in a team-based environment working collaboratively with the Emergency Department attending physicians (ED Physicians), medical residents, nursing, and allied health professionals to care for patients.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And ExperienceTwo years' recent related experience working in an emergency department setting.
To be granted registration as a certified non-registrant as a Physician Assistant, the PA must have obtained certification as a:
Enrollment in and compliance with the continuing professional development requirements and proof of enrollment and compliance from the PACCC or the NCCPA, satisfactory to the College.
Physician Assistant licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
Must meet the CPSBC's English language proficiency requirements.
