Job summary
TRIUMF Innovations Inc. in Vancouver, BC invites applications for the Photosensor Student Research Assistant (On-site).
You will operate the photodetector test facility (PTF), collect data on PMTs and Hyper-K photosensors, and support data analysis using ROOT and Python in a collaborative team. You are an undergraduate in physics or engineering physics, with C++, Python, Linux familiarity, and a fast-learning mindset; prior co-op is optional, and travel-cost support is available for students
Qualifications
- Undergraduate student in physics, engineering physics or physics/astronomy.
- Prior co-op experience optional.
- Proficiency in C++ and Python.
- Familiarity with Linux.
Responsibilities
- Operate PTF to take data of PMTs and Hyper-K photosensors and perform analysis using ROOT and Python.
- Develop and debug modelling of the system with simulation tools (e.g., COMSOL, GEANT4).
- Assist with operation tasks including motor-controllers, magnetic field measurements, and signal digitizers.
- Assist with maintenance and upgrades of PTF components such as gantry system and PMT mounts.
