Job summary

LifeLabs is seeking a Part Time Float Lab Patient Technician in Southwestern Ontario to support specimen collection and patient care. You will greet patients, collect specimens, and ensure adherence to test protocols, while maintaining patient privacy and delivering quality service.

Responsibilities include phlebotomy, ECG tracings, and handling special test collections. A Lab Assistant program graduate is preferred, with strong communication and computer skills.

Qualifications

• Graduates of an approved Laboratory Assistant program are preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience is an asset.
• ECG training or experience is an asset.
• Excellent communication skills are required.
• Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
• Strong customer/patient service with the ability to relate to patients and clients even in stressful situations.

Responsibilities

• Greet and collect required information from patients and explain the specimen collection process.
• Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
• Collect special tests (drug screens, paternity tests, clinical trials) and complete related documentation.
• Maintain client relationships and respond to inquiries or follow up on requests.
• Enter patient demographics and requisition information into systems.
• Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.
