Job summary

LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services in London, Ontario is seeking a Lab Patient Technician to support the specimen collection process, from greeting patients to preparing specimens for transportation. This role is essential to patient care and the impact you have on patients’ lives daily.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience is an asset.
• ECG training or experience is an asset.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Good computer skills; typing speed 40 wpm.
• Strong patient service and ability to relate to patients in stressful situations.
• Commitment to patient privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Greet and request required information from patients, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure patients follow test protocol prior to collection.
• Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect Holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
• Perform special test collections and complete related documentation.
• Maintain client relationships, including responding to inquiries and following up on requests.
• Complete data entry of patient demographics, requisition information, and other processing data.
• Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.
