Job summary

LifeLabs in Oakville, ON is seeking a Part Time Lab Patient Technician (Float) to support multiple PSCs in the Oakville area. You will greet patients, collect specimens, perform phlebotomy, ECGs, and special test collections while maintaining patient privacy and high service standards.

Ideal candidates have a Laboratory Assistant program background, phlebotomy and ECG experience are assets, and strong communication with good computer skills (40 wpm) are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy experience is an asset.
• ECG training or experience is an asset.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
• Strong customer/patient service and ability to relate to patients in stressful situations.
• Ability to maintain strictest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Greet and request required information from patients, explain specimen collection process.
• Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect Holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
• Perform special test collections and complete related documentation.
• Maintain client relationships and respond to inquiries and follow-up requests.
• Complete data entry of patient demographics, requisition information, and processing details.
• Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.
