Job summary

LifeLabs in Welland, Ontario, is seeking a Lab Patient Technician for part-time float shifts. You will greet patients, perform phlebotomy and ECG tracings, and prepare specimens across PSCs in Welland, Port Colborne, Fort Erie and Niagara Falls.

Availability Monday–Friday 6:45am–5:00pm; Saturdays 6:45am–12:30pm in Welland or Niagara Falls. Preferred graduates from an approved Laboratory Assistant program; phlebotomy and ECG experience are assets.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience is an asset.
• ECG training or experience is an asset.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
• Strong customer/patient service with empathy and adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and verify required information, explain the specimen collection process.
• Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect Holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
• Collect special test samples (drug screens, paternity tests, clinical trials) and complete related documentation.
• Maintain client relationships and respond to inquiries or requests.
• Complete data entry of patient demographics and requisitions for processing results.
• Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.
