Job summary

LifeLabs LP in Oakville, ON is seeking a Lab Patient Technician (Part Time Float) to support specimen collection across multiple PSCs. You will greet patients, perform phlebotomy, ECGs, and special test collections, while maintaining patient privacy and delivering quality care.

The role emphasizes travel between sites, strong customer service, and accuracy in data entry. The position is part-time with a float schedule and requires flexibility.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent is preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience is an asset.
• ECG training or experience is an asset.
• Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
• Strong customer/patient service and ability to relate to patients in stressful situations.
• Ability to maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, collect required information, explain specimen collection protocol and test requirements.
• Perform phlebotomies and connect/disconnect Holter monitors; perform ECG tracings.
• Collect special tests (e.g., medical/legal drug screens, paternity tests) and complete related docs.
• Maintain client relationships, respond to inquiries and follow up on requests.
• Enter patient demographics and requisition info into the system.
• Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.
