Job summary

Colonial Group in Canada is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our casual float team. You will greet patients, collect specimens, and prepare samples for transport across multiple regions including Uxbridge, Ajax, Oshawa, and Scarborough.

This role supports patient care and requires flexibility with shifts from 6am to 6pm, Mon-Sat. Responsibilities include performing phlebotomies, connecting/disconnecting holter monitors, ECGs, and handling special test collections, with strong emphasis on patient

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
  • Phlebotomy experience is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good computer skills, typing speed at least 40 wpm.
  • Strong empathy, adaptability, and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and request required information from patients, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure patients have followed necessary test protocol prior to specimen collection.
  • Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
  • Perform special test collections, such as medical/legal drug screens, paternity tests, and clinical trials, and complete related documentation.
  • Maintain client relationships, including responding to inquiries and following up on requests.
  • Complete data entry of required patient demographics, requisition information, and other information related to processing test results.
  • Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.

Job description

As aPhlebotomist,you will be responsible for the specimen collection process, from greeting patients through to preparation of specimens for transportation. This is an important role in patient care and our business and will let you see the difference that you make in patients’ lives.

Status: Casual (Float)

Shifts: Varying hours Monday-Friday 6-3, potentially weekends.

Personal vehicle needed and must be flexible with availability for shifts from 6am until 6pm MON-SAT. Expected to cover multiple regions: Uxbridge, Ajax, Oshawa, Scarborough

Union: This is part of the SEIU collective agreement
