Job summary

LifeLabs LP in the Greater Toronto Area is seeking Mobile Lab Patient Technicians to visit private homes, LTC facilities, and clinics to collect specimens, perform phlebotomy, ECG tracings, and monitor patients during tests.

This part-time Regular position requires driving, scheduling, and coordination with healthcare staff to ensure tests are completed accurately and on time. Travel across the GTA, including Scarborough and North York, is essential.

Responsibilities

• Organize daily visit schedule to facilities and private residences for specimen collection.
• Perform phlebotomies, Holter monitors, and ECG tracings.
• Collect and deliver specimens to designated labs for testing.
• Prepare specimens for transport to reference lab as required.
• Book patient appointments and explain test protocols before collection.
• Liaise with doctors, facility staff, and CCAC regarding scheduling and procedures.

Our Mobile Lab Patient Technicians play an important part in on-site patient care in locations including private homes, commercial facilities, and long-term care facilities. This is an active and rewarding role that will let you build relationships with patients and see the difference that you make in their lives and healthcare outcomes.

Status: Part Time Regular

Shifts: Various based on operational needs

Additional comments: This is a Regular Part-Time position within the Mobile Services team, supporting service delivery to Long-Term Care (LTC) facilities, private home visits, and MyVisit appointments throughout the Greater Toronto Area, including Scarborough and North York. The current hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Candidates must be flexible, as shifts may vary within these operating hours based on business needs. Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to various locations throughout the GTA are essential requirements for this role

Vaccination requirement: Selected candidates are required to be fully vaccinated with Covid-19 vaccinations, and a booster shot for this role.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Organizing a daily schedule of visits to facilities and private residences to collect specimens as per physicians' requests, planning your route according to courier times, specimen integrity, and required travel time.
• Performing phlebotomies, connecting/disconnecting holter monitors, and performing ECG tracings.
• Collecting and delivering specimens to designated labs for testing.
• Accession, spin, separate and prepare for transport to reference lab as required.
• Booking patient appointments, requesting required information from patients, explaining the specimen collection process and ensuring patients have followed necessary test protocol prior to specimen collection.
• Liaising with doctors, facility staff, and CCAC staff regarding patient problems, changes in scheduling, specimen collection procedures, and other matters.

What you will bring to the role:

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and access to a vehicle.
• Satisfactory criminal reference check.
• Phlebotomy experience.
• Excellent communication skills to enable you to relate with a wide variety of people.
• Problem solving skills and the ability to think quickly on your feet.
• Ability to maintain the strictest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.
