The Opportunity:
The Pharmacy Team Lead - Shipping & Receiving has the primary responsibility for supporting the Pharmacy Shipping and Receiving Supervisor and the Pharmacy Manager with the daily operations of the pharmacy’s shipping, receiving and delivery tasks. The Pharmacy Team Lead – Shipping & Receiving acts as a point of contact for dispensary and delivery staff and provides daily oversight and guidance to pharmacy staff to ensure that workflow is completed within required timelines. The Pharmacy Team Lead – Shipping & Receiving also works with management to address and resolve any shipping, receiving and delivery concerns.
The Pharmacy Team Lead – Shipping & Receiving is also responsible for accurately performing administrative duties including filing/scanning of delivery and prescription records, ordering supplies, maintaining inventory, assisting with reporting, arranging courier shipments and scheduling deliveries. The Pharmacy Team Lead - Shipping & Receiving also performs picking and packing of medications/compounded products, receiving stock, general pharmacy maintenance/cleaning, occasional deliveries and other duties as assigned.
In addition, the Pharmacy Team Lead – Shipping & Receiving will assist management with the implementation of new processes and staff training.
The Pharmacy Team Lead – Shipping & Receiving is expected to participate in all aspects of Sentrex Pharmacy required of a team player. All roles at Sentrex Pharmacy may be cross trained as permitted by scope of practice, and you may be required to help in other areas of pharmacy.
A Day in the Life (What you will do here):
- Provides guidance to delivery drivers assisting with pharmacy tasks.
- Ensures daily delivery runs and courier pickups are completed.
- Troubleshoots delivery and courier issues and provides information on delivery status to internal and external customers and escalates to management as required.
- Maintain inventory of shipping materials, including reconditioning and rotation of reusuable coolers, ice packs and data loggers.
- Coordinates pharmacy inventory maintenance, including identifying items to be ordered, receiving and put away of stock, expiry date checks and stock rotation, schedules and performs inventory cycle counts.
- Provides daily oversight and guidance to staff to ensure efficient workflow in the labelling and packaging areas.
- Pick, label and prepare medications for delivery.
- Ensures pharmacy backroom and medication storage areas (including refrigerators & freezer) are tidy and orderly.
- Mentors and assists with training of new staff and provides feedback to Pharmacy Supervisor/Manager on team performance.
- Scan/file pharmacy paperwork including delivery paperwork and prescription records.
- Arrange courier shipments.
- Deliver/pick up orders as required.
- Prepares reports as required.
- Adherence to all relevant guidelines including the established Standard Operating Procedures and all applicable regulatory requirements as set out by the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
- Actively contribute to the ongoing review of policies and procedures as they pertain to pharmacy operations.
- Monitoring of fridge temperatures and reporting any variances directly to pharmacy management.
- Assist with driver scheduling as required.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
What you need to ensure you are set up for success:
- High school diploma
- Previous experience working in a pharmacy setting an asset
- Previous experience leading a team an asset
- Experience with Kroll and MS Office an asset
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English Ability to communicate in other languages an asset.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to self-manage time, set daily priorities and multi-task in order to meet various competing work deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to work independently as well as within a team
- Ability to physical stand for extended periods of time, and to lift and move up to 50 pounds
