Job description

Staff Pharmacist (Permanent, Full-time) Reporting to the Director, Pharmacy Services, based out of ARTA’s head office in Edmonton, the Staff Pharmacist will serve as an expert resource providing support to ARTA members and the Member Services team. Responsibilities include answering complex questions regarding the ARTA prescription plan, policies, and programs. The pharmacist will collaborate with pharmacy staff on daily dispensary operations and strategic health programs, ensuring high-quality service to ARTA members.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide expert advice on pharmacy benefits via various communication channels.
  2. Advise on MAC and LCA pricing policies.
  3. Coordinate with claims adjudication on authorization and coverage issues.
  4. Support navigation of benefits with Government Seniors Benefit Plans for high-cost medications and supplies.
  5. Assist ARTA members with escalated prescription coverage issues.
  6. Support the Director, Pharmacy Services.
  7. Lead in pharmacy practice, supporting professional standards and legislation.
  8. Supervise pharmacy team members in dispensing operations.
  9. Lead health promotion programs and vaccination services.
  10. Manage prescription and OTC inventory.
  11. Support pharmacy practicum placements for the University of Alberta.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD, with authorization for injections and additional prescribing authority.
  • Previous community or hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Experience in central fill or mail-order pharmacy is an asset.
  • Proficiency in KROLL Pharmacy Management system is an asset.
  • Experience with pharmacy automation is an asset.
