Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a Pharmacy Manager - Operations at Cape Breton Regional Hospital. You will oversee drug distribution, procurement, inventory and staff competency, ensuring safe, efficient operations within the Pharmacy Department and NSH.

You will lead pharmacy technicians and assistants, manage resources, and work with the Leadership Team to meet strategic priorities while maintaining high quality and patient safety standards.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized pharmacy technician program.
• Licensed as a pharmacy technician in Nova Scotia.
• Management training program preferred.
• Minimum 3 years’ hospital experience managing human, financial and material resources.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Manager - Operations is responsible for the safe, effective and efficient provision of drug distribution services. The Manager works collaboratively with other members of the Department's Leadership Team in a co-leadership model to ensure compounding, preparation and delivery of medications for patients meet high standards for quality and patient safety and is aligned with strategic priorities of the Pharmacy Department and NSH.

In addition, the Manager oversees drug procurement and inventory management, pharmacy technician/pharmacy practice assistant competency assessment and certification and health technology assessment (drug distribution systems). The Manager oversees the selection, training and evaluation of pharmacy technician/pharmacy practice assistants, and students with respect to expected performance and competencies and supports the operational, fiscal and strategic objectives of the Pharmacy Department and NSH. The Manager is also responsible to ensure that all programs and initiatives are consistent with the mission, vision, values, strategic directions and business plan of NSH.

About You

• Completion of a recognized pharmacy technician program
• Licensed as a pharmacy technician in Nova Scotia, through the Nova Scotia College of Pharmacists
• Completion of a management training programpreferred
• Minimum3 years’ experience in ahospital setting managing human, financial and material resources allocated to Pharmacy service anasset
• Proficient with computers and office administration programs, experience withpharmacy software and technologypreferred
• Excellent interpersonal communication and collaborative skills
• Demonstrated collaborative practice with pharmacy practice assistants, pharmacists, learners, nursing, physicians and managers
• Must possess strong planning, evaluative and leadership skills; have demonstrated fiscal and time-management skills
• Strong knowledge of healthcare issues and collective agreements
• Excellent knowledge of hospital pharmacy practice
• Ability to prioritize, problem solve and work under pressure of time limitations is required
• Previous experience with Failure Mode Effects and Analysis reviewsanasset
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly Rate: $45.75 - $56.04
Annual Salary: $89,205 - $109,276
