Job summary

Neighbourly Pharmacy Banff is seeking a Part-Time Pharmacy Assistant to support pharmacists and technicians, greet customers, and assist with prescriptions under supervision. You will help with labeling, packaging, inventory and clerical tasks in a busy community pharmacy.

Flexibility is required to work evenings, weekends and holidays. Prior pharmacy exposure is an asset, with on-the-job training provided where needed to ensure accurate patient care.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a pharmacy assistant program preferred.
  • On-the-job training available for those with pharmacy experience.
  • Strong communication, teamwork and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing patient care.
  • Greet customers and answer phone calls professionally.
  • Enter, label and package prescriptions under supervision.
  • Count, measure and package medications per protocols.
  • Receive, stock and audit inventory; rotate stock as needed.
  • Maintain clean, organized pharmacy area and handle waste safely.
  • Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning and transfers.
  • Assist with daily operations and other duties as assigned.

Job description

Neighbourly Pharmacy is looking for a Part-Time Pharmacy Assistant to join our team at Neighbourly Pharmacy Banff in Banff, Alberta.

Patient Focused Care Responsibilities
  • Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
  • Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
  • Assist with entering, labeling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
  • Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
  • Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
  • Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste in accordance with regulations
  • Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
  • Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Completion of a pharmacy assistant program is preferred
  • Previous experience within a pharmacy is an asset (on-the-job training will be provided)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to thrive in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and Kroll pharmacy software
  • Ability to stand for long periods and occasional lifting of boxes/containers
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
