Summary:
To manage the operations of the Pharmacy while on duty, including providing consultation to customers and healthcare providers, practicing to full scope in providing professional services, dispensing medication, and assisting in the maintenance of the dispensary.
Responsibilities:
- Provide pharmacy and customer service, acknowledging all customers approaching the pharmacy.
- Practice within federal/provincial, regulatory, and legal requirements.
- Ensure all privacy requirements are met, including customer confidentiality and consent management.
- Provide counseling on prescriptions and over-the-counter products.
- Practice to the full extent of your professional scope, including expanded services within your capability.
- Be clearly identifiable to the public.
- Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions dispensed.
- Communicate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate customer care.
- Maintain all required records in accordance with legislation, standards, and policies.
Workflow and Inventory Management:
- Control access to the dispensary respecting inventory and patient confidentiality.
- Review and maintain workflow queues daily.
- Regularly review 'will call' bins as per SOPs.
- Review stock for expired inventory.
- Oversee current stock levels and medication orders from wholesalers.
- Ensure compliance with regulations regarding controlled substances and report to authorities as required.
Operations:
- Maintain an appropriate image of the pharmacy at entry, counseling, and work areas.
- Assist with financial reporting as needed.
- Respond to store communications via in-store web.
- File incident reports for medication or privacy incidents involving customers or staff.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Ability to think independently and make decisions.
- Plan, coordinate, delegate, and coach pharmacy colleagues.
- Proven ability to drive business growth and support enterprise programs.
- Exceptional customer service skills and professionalism.
- Strong problem-solving skills with experience in action plan implementation.
- Personal computing skills and knowledge of pharmacy systems are assets.
- Adherence to health and safety procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
- Completion of mandatory training and ongoing education.
