Why this role is important?

Summary:

To manage the operations of the Pharmacy while on duty, including providing consultation to customers and healthcare providers, practicing to the full scope of professional services, dispensing medication, and assisting in maintaining the dispensary.

Responsibilities:

• Manage pharmacy and customer service operations
• Acknowledge all customers approaching the pharmacy
• Practice within federal/provincial, regulatory, and legal requirements
• Ensure privacy requirements are met, including confidentiality and consent management
• Provide counseling on prescriptions and over-the-counter products
• Practice to the full extent of your professional scope
• Be clearly identifiable to the public
• Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions dispensed
• Communicate with healthcare professionals to coordinate customer care
• Maintain required records in accordance with legislation, standards, and policies

Workflow and Inventory Management:

• Control access to the dispensary respecting inventory and confidentiality
• Review and maintain workflow queues daily
• Regularly review 'will call' bins as per SOPs
• Review stock for expired inventory
• Oversee stock levels and medication orders
• Ensure compliance with regulations for controlled substances, including reporting requirements

Operations:

• Maintain a professional image at workstations and waiting areas
• Participate in financial reporting as needed
• Respond to store communications
• File incident reports for medication or privacy incidents

Qualifications and Skills:

• Ability to think independently and make decisions
