Responsibilities

  • Disseminate drug information to staff and patients as required.
  • Maintain compliance with all related statutes and hospital policies.
  • Balance competing priorities and collaborate with the pharmacy team.

Almonte General Hospital and Carleton Place & DistrictMemorial Hospital created the Mississippi River Health Alliance (MRHA) in 2016to formalize their commitment to work together to improve each patient andresident’s overall health care experience through a strong, coordinated systemof care. An integrated Senior Team leads the two Hospitals, as well as FairviewManor and Lanark County Paramedic Service which are operating divisions of AGH.Over 600 caring staff, physicians and midwives provide excellent primary, acuteand long-term care to citizens of Lanark County, West Ottawa and RenfrewCounty.

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure theprovision of pharmaceutical services (dispensing of drugs, clinical medicationmanagement, monitoring of drug utilization, and dissemination of druginformation) in a manner, which is consistent with hospital and departmentalstandards, and objectives of quality, productivity, economy and safety, in fullcompliance with all related statutes and regulations.

Basic Requirements:
  • Successful completion of a recognized Faculty ofPharmacy, Bachelor's Degree of Science in Pharmacy.
  • Registration with the Ontario College of Pharmaciststo practice as a Pharmacist in the Province of Ontario.
  • Demonstrated excellent clinical skills related toMedication Management.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Health Disciplines Act, theControlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and the Guidelines for the SecureDistribution of Narcotic and Controlled Drugs in Hospitals, the Ontario Drugand Pharmacies Regulation Act, the Standards of Practice of the CanadianSociety of Hospital Pharmacists and the National Association of PharmacyRegulatory Authorities (NAPRA). He/she shall also be familiar with the PublicHospitals Act, the Standards of Accreditation of the Council on Health FacilitiesAccreditation, and the Code of Ethics of the Ontario College of Pharmacists andthe Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills andeffective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficient in software applications including use ofdata bases, web based tools, word, excel, power point and other relevantwork-related technologies.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and timelines.
  • Conversant with the mission, vision, valuesstatements, policies and quality assurance standards of the Hospital as theyapply to the Pharmacy Department.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education bykeeping abreast of current development in the practice of Pharmacy by means ofconferences, seminars and workshops and perusing current, pertinentpharmaceutical and medical publications consistent with establishedprofessional guidelines.
  • A member in good standing of the Canadian Society ofHospital Pharmacists preferred.
  • Previous related hospital experience preferred.
