Job summary

Pet Valu Canada Inc. is seeking a Store Manager in Truro, NS to lead daily store operations and drive customer-first service. You will recruit, train, and supervise staff while ensuring top-notch community engagement and adherence to company standards.

The role requires 2+ years in retail management, comfort with POS systems, weekend/evening shifts, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. Strong communication and coaching skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years customer service and retail store management experience.
• Enthusiasm for learning & growth in pet care industry.
• Outgoing and friendly personality with strong customer service skills.
• Ability to work weekends and evenings.
• Reliable transportation to and from the store.
• Observe and coach employees to provide feedback on sales techniques and service.
• Capacity for understanding inter-team conflicts and escalating when necessary.
• Working knowledge of POS system.
• Ability to lift 50lbs repetitively.
• Industry experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Maintain courteous relationships within the community (e.g., Humane society).
• Manage a team of employees including recruiting, scheduling, training, assigning tasks, supervision and coaching.
• Ensure operational standards and procedures are followed at the store level.
• Coordinate order placements, maintain inventory, perform store and safety audits, coordinate repairs, handle corporate paperwork.
• Coordinate staff efforts to achieve targeted business results.
• Perform other duties as required.
