Job summary

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care in Markham, Ontario is seeking a Personal Support Worker to provide personal care and support residents’ daily activities, respecting our resident-centred approach. Qualifications include a PSW course in Ontario, current CPR, and strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

This is a temporary part-time role for 3 months with daytime shifts, including weekends, at an hourly rate of CAD 25.41–27.62.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved Personal Support Worker course in Ontario, or equivalent.
  • Experience in long term care setting an asset
  • Current CPR Certificate
  • Registration with Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) preferred
  • Resident-centred care focus with strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem-solve and time manage
  • Ability to work independently as well as be an active, positive team player
  • Behavioural management training (GPA, U-First, CPI) an asset
  • Computer literacy (Point Click Care, MS Office)
  • Basic knowledge of Workday an asset
  • Ability to speak and converse in Chinese an asset

  • Work day shifts, including weekends and short shifts; may require alternate shifts to meet operational needs.

Job description

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) will provide personal care to assist clients in their daily activities and personal hygiene. The PSW will support the clients' physical, social and emotional needs in a safe manner, in accordance with the organization's resident-centred approach, complying with relevant government standards, residents' rights and the organization's mission and philosophy.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an approved Personal Support Worker course in Ontario, or equivalent
  • Experience in long term care setting an asset
  • Current CPR Certificate
  • Registration with Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) preferred

Additional Information

Working Conditions: Considerable standing, walking, lifting and bending. Exposure to all resident care elements through regular resident contact.

Ability to work day shifts, including weekends and short shifts. May be required to work an alternate shift(s) to meet operational needs (e.g., emergency, training, accommodation, etc.) as per scheduling practices.

This is a temporary part time position for 3 months.

Salary Range: $25.41 - $27.62
