Job summary

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care is hiring a Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide personal care and support to residents in daily activities, in a resident-centred care setting. The role emphasizes safety, compassionate interaction, and collaboration with a team of caregivers at Yee Hong’s Ontario campuses.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, upholding government standards, and contributing to residents’ physical, social and emotional well-being.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved Personal Support Worker course in Ontario, or equivalent.
  • Experience in long term care setting an asset.
  • Current CPR Certificate Registration with Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) preferred.
  • Resident-centred care focus with strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem-solve and time manage
  • Ability to work independently as well as be an active, positive team player
  • Behavioural management training (GPA, U-First, CPI) an asset
  • Computer literacy (Point Click Care, MS Office).
  • Basic knowledge of Workday an asset.
  • Ability to speak and converse in Chinese an asset

  • May be required to work night shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends and short shifts.

Job description

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) will provide personal care to assist clients in their daily activities and personal hygiene. The PSW will support the clients' physical, social and emotional needs in a safe manner, in accordance with the organization's resident-centred approach, complying with relevant government standards, residents' rights and the organizations mission and philosophy.

Qualifications

Working Conditions

Considerable standing, walking, lifting and bending

Exposure to all resident care elements through regular resident contact.

Ability to work night shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends and short shifts.

May be required to work an alternate shift(s) to meet operational needs (e.g., emergency, training, accommodation, etc.) as per scheduling practices

This is a temporary part time for 3 months

Compensation

Salary Range: $25.41 - $27.62
