Job summary

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care is seeking a Personal Support Worker to provide personal care and support to residents across our campuses. The role focuses on residents’ physical, social, and emotional needs within a safe, compassionate, and culturally inclusive environment.

Temporary part-time position for 11 months, with shifts including days and weekends. Salary range posted is $25.41–$27.62 per hour; opportunities for professional development and access to a multi-employer pension plan

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved PSW course in Ontario or equivalent.
• Experience in long-term care is an asset.
• Current CPR certificate.
• Registration with Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) preferred.
• Resident-centred care focus with strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving and time management abilities.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a positive team.
• Behavioral management training (GPA, U-First, CPI) an asset.
• Computer literacy (Point Click Care, MS Office).
• Basic knowledge of Workday an asset.
• Ability to speak Chinese an asset.

The Personal Support Worker (PSW) will provide personal care to assist clients in their daily activities and personal hygiene. The PSW will support the clients' physical, social and emotional needs in a safe manner, in accordance with the organization's resident-centred approach, complying with relevant government standards, residents' rights and the organizations mission and philosophy.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Personal Support Worker course in Ontario, or equivalent Experience in long term care setting an asset Current CPR Certificate Registration with Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA) preferred.
• Resident-centred care focus with strong customer service and interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem-solve and time manage Ability to work independently as well as be an active, positive team player Behavioural management training (Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA), U-First, CPI) an asset Computer literacy (Point Click Care, MS Office).
• Basic knowledge of Workday an asset.
• Ability to speak and converse in Chinese an asset.

Additional Information

• Working Conditions: Considerable standing, walking, lifting and bending Exposure to all resident care elements through regular resident contact.
• Ability to work day shifts, including weekends and short shifts.
• May be required to work an alternate shift(s) to meet operational needs (e.g., emergency, training, accommodation, etc.) as per scheduling practices.
• This is a temporary part time position for 11 months.

Salary Range: $25.41 - $27.62
