Job summary

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care in Mississauga, Ontario, is seeking a casual Program Aide to support the Day Program under the Program Manager's direction. You will help plan and participate in activities, provide high-quality personal care, and assist with meals according to resident preferences.

The role requires Ontario PSW training or equivalent, CPR, good interpersonal skills, and a current vulnerable sector check.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved Personal Support Worker course in Ontario, or equivalent.
  • Completion of a CPR.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Satisfactory Police Reference Check (with vulnerable sector screen).
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese.

Responsibilities

  • Implements and ensures smooth operation of activities in a safe, hygienic and supportive environment.
  • Provides high quality personal care to assist clients in their daily activities and personal hygiene.
  • Provides meal services or assists in meal preparation and assists the clients in eating in accordance with the client's wish and ability.
  • Assists the client in participating in social activities and encourages social interaction.
  • Assists the team to prepare program materials.
  • Responds promptly to medical emergencies and takes appropriate action.
  • Assists the clients in the proper use and care of adaptive devices.
  • Delivers, portions and serves meals according to diet order and client preference.
  • Complies with health and safety policies to minimize the risk to clients, coworkers and self.

$19.66 - $22.81
