Qualification
The PSW Coordinator oversees, supports, and monitors PSWs to ensure that direct personal and nursing care meet the holistic needs of residents in accordance with Southbridge’s policies and procedures. This position also manages the daily operations of PSWs, ensuring they have the necessary tools, equipment, and resources on all shifts.
Minimum Requirements
- Personal Support Worker Program Certificate or Diploma, or current enrollment in a nursing program (at least one year completed), meeting standards set by relevant regulatory bodies.
- Knowledge of care planning systems and documentation.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating leadership qualities.
- Knowledge of WHMIS, Workplace Safety, First Aid, CPR, and optional training in Gentle Persuasive Approach.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check, immunization, and vaccination records.
- Good attendance record.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with FLTCA, accreditation standards, and organizational policies to provide quality care.
- Maintain accurate electronic documentation of resident care.
- Contribute to policy development and staff orientation.
- Assist in developing and updating resident care plans.
- Supervise and mentor PSWs, including conducting interviews and performance evaluations.
- Provide education and training, including safe lifts and transfers.
- Promote professional communication with residents, families, and staff.
- Participate in audits, reports, and safety programs.
- Ensure PSWs have necessary tools and resources.
- Participate in infection prevention, health & safety, and quality improvement activities.
- Respect residents’ rights, privacy, and confidentiality.
