Job summary

A leading First Nation organization is seeking a dedicated Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide essential support for clients in their daily activities and manage various medical conditions. This permanent position requires strong interpersonal skills and flexibility in work hours. The ideal candidate will hold a PSW certificate and have experience in healthcare. Preference will be given to First Nation members.

Job description

Under the general supervision of the Home Care Coordinator and Home Support Lead, the Personal Support Worker (PSW) will focus on providing optimal support for clients' activities of daily living and managing diverse medical conditions. Additional care tasks may be delegated in collaboration with a Registered Healthcare Professional as needed.

Qualifications / Requirements :

1. Current Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Community College or an accredited PSW Education Program.
2. Minimum one (1) year experience in the healthcare field.
3. Current certification or willingness to obtain within the prescribed period for the following:

• CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and First Aid
• Save Your Back
• Hand Washing
• WHMIS
• CPI - Non-violent Crisis Intervention
• Privacy and Confidentiality
• Other related certificates in the Home Care Setting

Demonstrates leadership and organizational skills.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Computer skills and ability to perform documentation on the program.

Ability to speak and understand Cree is an asset.

Flexible work hours, including during power outages as required.

Provide copies of certificates, diplomas, or degrees with your resume.

Criminal record check including Vulnerable Sector clearance is required prior to hiring.

Duration :

Permanent position with a 3-month probationary period.
