Your Role with Clients

As a caring, responsible healthcare team member, you will support clients to be as safe and independent in their homes as possible, helping them live their best lives. Your responsibilities include providing personal care in clients' homes or community locations, assisting with mobility and light exercises, and observing, documenting, and reporting any changes in their condition to your Manager/Supervisor. You may also perform light housekeeping tasks as indicated in client care plans.

Qualifications for Success

• Personal Support Worker Certificate, or valid certification as a Home Support Worker, Home Support Worker Level II or III, Healthcare Aide, or Personal Attendant
• Students enrolled (post-first year) in healthcare programs such as nursing, rehab, paramedicine, or those with valid certificates as Developmental Support Worker, RN, RPN, Practical Nurse, midwife, or internationally-trained physician
• Current Standard First Aid & CPR (Level C) Certification
• Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening within the last 12 months
• Proof of a negative TB test within the last 12 months and up-to-date immunizations
• Ability to travel within the Guelph community; a valid driver’s license, vehicle, and insurance are required
• Willingness to work every other weekend
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills; proficiency in French or other languages is an asset
• Reliability and strong organizational skills
• Ability to safely lift up to 35 lbs. (16 kg)
