Job summary

March of Dimes Canada is seeking 3 Part-Time Personal Support Workers to provide in-home non-medical care. Wages start at $22.24 per hour, including the temporary $3.00 per hour wage enhancement from the Ontario government.

Shifts up to 22.5 hours per week, with days, evenings, weekends and holidays across multiple locations. Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, transfers, meals, light housekeeping, and maintaining privacy and safety.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
• Experience with people with physical disabilities and consumer-based care.
• Knowledge of transfers, lifting, bowel/bladder routines and other attendant care duties.
• Physically able to perform duties and maintain safety.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours.
• Valid driver's license and/or reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist consumers in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living as per service plans.
• Perform transfers, lifting, rising and retiring with care and dignity.
• Meal preparation and light housekeeping to support daily living.
• Respect privacy and maintain health and safety for consumers and staff.
• Support 24-hour attendant care across locations with varied shifts.

This Opportunity:

We are currently looking to fill 3 Part-Time Personal Support Worker (internally known as Support Service Attendant) positions in our Southwest Region:

Wage: $22.24 per hour. This wage is inclusive of the temporary $3.00 per hour wage enhancement provided by the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients.

Hours: up to 22.5 hours per week

Schedule: Work multiple shifts (i.e. workdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays) that may vary between locations.

Responsibilities:

• Assist consumers in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures, including:
  • Personal care
  • Lifts and transfers
  • Rising and retiring
  • Bowel and bladder procedures
  • Meal preparation and feeding
  • Range of motion exercises
  • Other light housekeeping duties
• Perform duties in a professional manner that respects the dignity and right to privacy of consumers and maintains the health and safety of consumers and staff.

March of Dimes Canada provides 24-hour attendant care to its consumers. Support Service Attendants will be required to work multiple shifts (days, evenings, and weekends) that vary between locations.

Qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalent

• Experience working with people with physical disabilities, including experience, knowledge, or understanding of Independent Living or consumer-based care
• Knowledge of and ability to perform transfers, lifting, bowel and bladder routines, and other attendant care duties
