We are seeking a dedicated Personal Support Worker (PSW) to join our team at BayWoods Place in Hamilton, Ontario. This is a part-time, permanent position focused on providing quality care to our residents.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with ambulation, feeding, bathing, and grooming.
• Encourage participation in activity programs and assist residents to and from activities.
• Support meal service and provide feeding assistance as needed.
• Offer emotional and social support to residents and their families, including palliative care.
• Follow departmental policies and procedures related to documentation, quality assurance, fire safety, environment, and infection control.
• Communicate with and inform supervisors about unit activities and resident care needs.
• Participate in care conferences and maintain documentation related to resident care plans.

Qualifications

• Completed a PSW Program meeting standards established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, the National Association of Career Colleges, or the Ontario Community Support Association, with a minimum of 600 hours including class and practical experience.
• Experience in long-term care is an asset.
• Knowledge of care planning systems and documentation.
• Ability to perform duties physically and mentally.
• Positive communication skills with staff, residents, and families.
• Empathy, concern, and interest in providing quality care.
• Organizational skills and ability to complete tasks timely.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to provide resident care in accordance with legislation, routines, and care plans; proficient in English reading, writing, and understanding verbal and written instructions.
