The PSW, under supervision, provides personal care services as outlined in the care plan, ensuring the emotional, spiritual, physical comfort, and safety of clients.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver personal care according to the care plan, ensuring client comfort and safety
• Perform duties within the provincial scope of practice, including skin, hair, mouth care, bathing, bowel and bladder care, positioning, exercise, wound care, feeding, oxygen assistance, and medication reminders
• Carry out specialized procedures with recognized training and current competency
• Observe, document, and report client condition changes
• Implement infection prevention practices
• Participate in ongoing education and quality improvement activities
• Adhere to policies and procedures
• Engage in health and safety activities and report risks
• Maintain confidentiality
• Perform additional tasks as assigned

Other Skills and Abilities

• Fluent communication in English or French
• Exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and in teams
• Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting up to 23 kg and assisting with mobility
• Reliable transportation for local travel

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited PSW program
• Knowledge of community nursing principles and personal care delivery
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
• At least one year of recent relevant experience or equivalent life experience

Reporting and Performance

• Reports to the Clinical Manager
• Demonstrates ongoing competency and meets performance review standards
