Job description

Personal Support Worker - Picton, Prince Edward County - CAD$108.00/week
Description
About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for an 83-year-old gentleman living in Prince Edward County, near Picton. He lives at home with his spouse, who is very independent. He's experiencing some vision loss and mobility challenges-he walks independently but is getting close to needing a walker. He's slowing down and could benefit from companionship, light assistance with personal care, and help maintaining his independence. This is his first time receiving care, and the family is looking for someone who can build trust gradually and make him feel comfortable.

Responsibilities:

The caregiver will provide companionship and light personal care support. This includes helping with bathing or showering once a week, assisting with laundry, light housekeeping (tidying, wiping down counters, vacuuming), and providing gentle reminders and motivation for daily tasks. The caregiver will also take him out for errands such as haircuts, coffee outings, or trips to the bank. Transportation support is essential-the caregiver will drive the client's vehicle with him to appointments and social activities. The goal is to help him maintain his routine, stay engaged, and give his spouse some respite.

What We're Looking For:

We're seeking a caregiver who is calm, patient, and brings positive energy. Someone who makes the client feel comfortable, respects his independence, and takes initiative when needed. Reliability and clear communication with the family are essential. The ideal caregiver is experienced with senior care, particularly with senior men, and is comfortable providing personal care support in a respectful, gradual way. A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required. English-speaking preferred. The family has expressed a preference for a caregiver who is culturally aligned-ideally a white male or female, Canadian-born to help the client feel most at ease.

Schedule:

The caregiver will visit once per week on Wednesdays from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The schedule is flexible and may adjust based on the client's needs and preferences. The family is open to starting gradually and building trust over time.
