Job summary

Prairie Valley School Division is seeking a dedicated Bus Driver to provide safe and reliable transportation to students and school activities. You will join a team focused on the wellbeing and development of children and youth.

Responsibilities include safe driving, adherence to Saskatchewan's driver standards, and supporting students with behaviour and safety as needed. A valid Saskatchewan Class 1-5 license and School Bus Endorsement are required or training is available.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid Saskatchewan Class 1-5 Driver's License.
  • Must hold a valid School Bus Endorsement (training available if not licensed).
  • Clear Driver's Abstract, covering last 5 years.
  • Satisfactory medical examinations per Highway Traffic Act.
  • First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain it at the division's expense.

  • Work as part of a team to support students' growth and development.
  • Follow traffic laws and division policies to ensure student safety.

Job description

Job Purpose:

Bus Driver is responsible to provide safe and efficient transportation to and from school and school-related activities, working as part of a team to contribute to the growth and development of children and youth.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Ability to safely and confidently operate a school bus
  • Good working knowledge of The Highway and Transportation Act and The Traffic Safety Act
  • Good working knowledge of the Saskatchewan Driver's Handbook and Saskatchewan Commercial Driver's Handbook
  • Good understanding of, and ability to apply, a range of student behaviour strategies focused on positive reinforcement of desired behaviour
  • Demonstrated patience, maturity and experience working with children
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Qualifications
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Saskatchewan Class 1-5 Driver's License
  • Must hold a valid School Bus Endorsement
    • training is available for non-licensed school bus drivers
  • Clear driver's abstract, with no major infractions
    • A current Driver's Abstract from SGI detailing all (personal and commercial) driving records for the last 5 years must be submitted with your application
    • A copy of the abstract can be:
      • uploaded to your online application,
      • emailed to transportation@pvsd.ca or
      • faxed to 306-543-1771.
  • Satisfactory medical examinations in accordance with The Highway Traffic Act
  • First Aid Certification or be willing to obtain one at Prairie Valley School Division's expense.
Working Conditions
  • Full time bus routes are paid at $58.63 per day plus a per km rate calculated at $0.23/km
    • The mileage for all routes will be paid at least at the minimum of 90 kms for a total of $79.33 per day
  • 100% employer paid heanth benefits plan

  • Drivers with young children may take their children with them on the bus
  • Commencing August 28, 2026
  • Working in varied climates and differing road conditions
  • Physical ability to load and unload students in wheelchairs may be required.
