Job summary

Autism Services in Saskatchewan is seeking a Bus Driver to provide safe, reliable transportation for students to and from school and activities, working cooperatively to support their growth and development. You must hold a Saskatchewan Class 1-5 Driver's License and a valid School Bus Endorsement (training available), plus a clean driver’s abstract and medical clearance.

First Aid certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must hold Saskatchewan Class 1-5 Driver's License.
  • Valid School Bus Endorsement (training available).
  • Clear driver's abstract with no major infractions.
  • Current SGI driving record for last 5 years must be submitted.
  • Satisfactory medical examinations per Highway Traffic Act.
  • First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and efficient transportation to students and school activities.
  • Operate a school bus in compliance with regulations and safety policies.
  • Work as part of a team to support students' growth and development.
  • Load and unload students, including those in wheelchairs when required.

Bus Driver is responsible to provide safe and efficient transportation to and from school and school-related activities, working as part of a team to contribute to the growth and development of children and youth.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to safely and confidently operate a school bus
  • Good working knowledge of The Highway and Transportation Act and The Traffic Safety Act
  • Good working knowledge of the Saskatchewan Driver's Handbook and Saskatchewan Commercial Driver's Handbook
  • Good understanding of, and ability to apply, a range of student behaviour strategies focused on positive reinforcement of desired behaviour
  • Demonstrated patience, maturity and experience working with children
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Qualifications
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Saskatchewan Class 1-5 Driver's License
  • Must hold a valid School Bus Endorsement (training is available for non-licensed school bus drivers)
  • Clear driver's abstract, with no major infractions
  • o A current Driver's Abstract from SGI detailing all (personal and commercial) driving records for the last 5 years must be submitted with your application
  • Satisfactory medical examinations in accordance with The Highway Traffic Act
  • First Aid Certification or be willing to obtain one at Prairie Valley School Division's expense.
Working Conditions
  • Full time bus routes are paid at daily base rate of $58.63 plus a per km rate calculated at $0.23/km

  • Working in varied climates and differing road conditions
  • Physical ability to load and unload students in wheelchairs may be required.
