Job summary

Collingwood General and Marine Hospital is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to join the Operating Room team on a temporary full-time basis (about 7 months). You will support patients through the perioperative journey, provide scrubbing support, and contribute to a state-of-the-art surgical environment.

The role offers opportunities for ongoing education funding and a defined benefit pension through HOOPP, with on-call and 8-hour shift patterns including days and nights.

Qualifications

• Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse.
• Current BCLS.
• Scrubbing competence in all surgical services.
• Minimum of two years RPN experience in acute care.
• Completion of post-diploma Perioperative Nursing Certificate Program.
• IV Certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered care within the RPN scope in Surgical Services.
• Support patients during their perioperative journey, including pre-op teaching and prep.
• Assist the surgical team in the OR, including scrub duties during procedures.
• Deliver post-operative care, including Level II recovery support and discharge education.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team for ongoing patient care.
• Promote patient recovery and well-being through nursing interventions.
• Adhere to College of Nurses of Ontario standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists and other professionals.
