Job summary

William Osler Health System, located in Brampton, Ontario, seeks a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) for the Surgical Suite. This full-time, 12-month contract position is based at Peel Memorial Centre and requires operating room experience and a current OR certificate.

The RPN will provide safe, patient-centred nursing care pre- and post-operatively, including intraoperative support within a dynamic surgical team. The role includes on-call responsibilities and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Recent OR experience within last five years with a minimum of two years in the operating room
• Operating Room certificate
• CPR-HCP certification and related patient care competencies

Responsibilities

• Safe nursing practice in all aspects of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care
• Provide patient-centred care during ambulatory procedures including arthroscopy, gynecology, cystoscopy, endoscopy or cataract
• Deliver health teaching to patients and families including thorough discharge instructions for continuity of care
• Respond to emergencies by recognizing changes in patient status and trigger appropriate actions including on-call when necessary
• Collaborate with inter-professional health care team to ensure high-quality patient care
