Job summary

Alberta Health Services (AHS) invites applications for a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Perioperative Education Program. This funded educational opportunity leads to Operating Room Technician certification and advanced perioperative nursing knowledge.

The six-month temporary position includes clinical placements at Sturgeon Community Hospital, Royal Alexandra Hospital and University of Alberta Hospital with a focus on scrub and circulating roles.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
• Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with CLHA.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Responsibilities

• Monitor the patient during surgery and coordinate care throughout the perioperative experience.
• Provide a link between the OR and patient care units, acting as patient advocate during scrub and circulating roles.
• Collaborate within an interprofessional team to ensure safe, high-quality perioperative care.
