As a People Operations Specialist at Hiive, you will be a key partner to the People & Culture and Finance teams, driving seamless HR operations and enhancing the employee experience. Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance, managing payroll and benefits, shaping workplace policies, and supporting onboarding to foster a dynamic and organized workplace.
Responsibilities
- Managing payroll and benefits administration, including processing payroll cycles, administering benefits enrollments and changes, and ensuring compliance with employment laws in Canada and the USA.
- Managing employee records via the HRIS system.
- Handling employee lifecycle activities such as onboarding, offboarding, performance reviews, and talent programs.
- Refining employment policies to promote a safe, inclusive, and flexible work environment.
- Generating reports and insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Supporting global talent mobility, including immigration and work permit processes.
- Supporting ad-hoc initiatives to improve employee experience and operational efficiency.
Required Skills & Experience
- At least 3 years of experience in HR or People Operations.
- Strong knowledge of payroll, benefits, and HRIS systems (e.g., Rippling, Workday, ADP) in Canada.
- Familiarity with Canadian and U.S. employment laws and immigration policies.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive and solution-oriented mindset with a sense of urgency.
Preferred Skills
- Certifications such as CHRP or PCP, or working towards them.
- Experience supporting employees across Canada and the US with knowledge of employment laws in various jurisdictions.
