Reporting to the Manager, People & Culture and partnering with the Director, Total Rewards, the P&C Generalist supports key people programs across employee relations, recruitment, learning & development, compliance, and talent development. This role works closely with leaders and employees across the business to enhance the employee experience and support organizational growth.

Duties & Responsibilities
Employee Relations
  • Serve as a trusted contact for employee and manager HR inquiries, performance check-ins, and conflict resolution.
  • Support workplace investigations, intake conversations, and post-interview documentation with the P&C Manager.
  • Support employee performance through documentation, researching development opportunities, and partnering with Learning & Development.
  • Promote Norland at community events and act as an overall community steward.
Recruitment
  • Conduct full cycle recruitment for roles at all levels, including drafting and publishing job postings, interacting with recruitment agencies, corresponding with candidates, scheduling interviews
  • Source candidates by using various databases and social media
  • Provide a shortlist of qualified candidates to hiring manager
Student & New Grad Program
  • Lead the co-op and summer student placement program, including recruitment, onboarding, student experience, and Granted program administration.
Learning & Development
  • Coordinate internal and external training programs, track participation, and administer tuition reimbursement and related grant funding.
P&C Programs & Policies
  • Support the P&C Manager in delivering core programs spanning engagement, retention and talent development.
  • Maintain up-to-date HR handbooks, job descriptions, tools, and confidential employee records.
  • Ensure policy compliance, support leaves of absence/return-to-work, and coordinate employee recognition initiatives and company events.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Certificate or diploma in HR management or equivalent
  • 4+ years’ experience in People & Culture
  • Knowledge and expertise in HR policies and procedures
  • Experience in a unionized and/or construction environment is an asset
  • A strong understanding of best practices, regulations and legislation
  • Ability to handle data and confidential information
  • Excellent judgement, problem solving and listening skills
  • Conflict management knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal
  • Proficiency in MS OfficeInvestigation training is an asset
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and valid BC driver’s license
Compensation

The role is an onsite, permanent, full-time position with a typical starting salary range of $70,000 to $85,000 per annum. Variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate's qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role. Norland offers a comprehensive total rewards package that includes a competitive base salary, extended health and dental plans with premiums full paid by the company, as well as paid time off and RRSP matching.
