Job summary

Breakthrough Academy is seeking a People & Culture Specialist to partner with leaders and teams across the organization for an 18-month maternity leave contract in Canada. You will own day-to-day People & Culture operations throughout the employee lifecycle and drive practical, thoughtful solutions that enhance onboarding, performance conversations, compensation, and offboarding.

• Own day-to-day People & Culture operations across the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, performance, changes, milestones, and offboarding.
• Provide practical guidance on employee matters, policies, and employment legislation, navigating sensitive situations.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day People & Culture operations across the full employee lifecycle, ensuring onboarding, 30/60/90-day check-ins, performance management, changes, milestones, and offboarding are handled thoughtfully.
• Be a trusted partner to leaders and team members, guiding on employee matters, policies, and employment legislation with sound judgment.
• Lead annual People processes including performance and compensation reviews, bonus administration, and engagement surveys.
• Prepare employment agreements, letters, compensation updates, and other documentation with accuracy and clarity.
• Partner with Finance to ensure payroll changes, compensation, benefits and related administration are timely.
• Help create an employee experience that people genuinely enjoy through engagement initiatives, events, recognition, and Learning & Development.
• Support employer branding to showcase our people and culture, bringing the employee experience to life internally and externally.
• Own administration and integrity of People systems (BambooHR), ensuring records, workflows, policies, SOPs, and the Team Guide are current.
