Job summary

Doane Grant Thornton is seeking a People and Culture Manager to lead talent attraction, engagement and development within a national professional services firm. You will coach managers, reinforce a coaching culture, and bring the firm’s purpose to life in key decisions and activities.

You will collaborate with leaders across the country to execute the strategic People & Culture vision while ensuring inclusive communication and effective HR processes across locations.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to lead and develop teams in a HR setting.
• Solid understanding of employment laws, policies and performance management.
• Experience coaching leaders and building a strong People & Culture function.
• Ability to partner with senior leadership and drive business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Connect with the P&C team to prioritize attraction, engagement and development of talent.
• Coach People Managers to excel in people management responsibilities.
• Reinforce a coaching culture to inspire employees and clients.
• Lead inclusion initiatives and integrate the firm’s purpose into decisions and activities.
• Collaborate across business units to execute the People & Culture strategy.

As a People and Culture Manager your responsibilities will include:

• Connect in inspirational ways with our P&C team and work with them to prioritize successful attraction, engagement and development of talent

• Connect in inspirational ways with our P&C team and work with them to prioritize successful attraction, engagement and development of talent
• Contribute directly to the development of the Business Unit’s People Managers by coaching them to excel in their people management responsibilities
• Reinforce the development of a coaching culture as a way of inspiring our people and our clients
• Bring the firm’s Purpose to life as the why for all important decisions, goals and activities
• Role model collaboration, shared leadership, inclusion and a coaching orientation in all interactions – every touch leaves a trace
• Execute the National Inclusiveness strategy in the Business Unit to integrate the firm’s commitment to inclusion in all people practices
• Work to ensure effective and inclusive communication throughout the Business Unit
• Collaborate with your colleagues in the Nova Scotia Business Unit and across the country to execute on the strategic People and Culture vision and share knowledge and best practices
• Execute on the cyclical HR processes and administration for various locations
• Promote and supports the firm’s employer brand in all activities within the firm and externally

Think you’ve got what it takes to be a People and Culture Manager ? Like the colour purple? Great. Here's a few more boxes we’re also hoping you can tick:

• Proven ability to inspire a team, articulate a vision and influence stakeholders
• Experience working in a fast-paced atmosphere where a sense of urgency has been demonstrated
• Knowledge of current legislation related to employment as well as current HR theories and practices including recruitment, policy and performance management
• Ability to develop rapport with individuals across the firm, representing different perspectives, backgrounds and levels
• Great business acumen and the ability to bring this to life operationally day to day
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Human Resource role preferred
• Post-secondary education required; HR-related education and CPHR will be an asset
• Exposure to a coaching framework would be an asset
• Experience working in a professional services or public practice environment considered an asset
