Job summary

Doane Grant Thornton LLP in Whitby is seeking a Manager, Assurance [Audit] to lead and execute client engagements across various sectors, ensuring exceptional service and quality.

You’ll plan and guide teams, mentor junior staff, drive business development, and contribute to office strategy while upholding Doane Grant Thornton’s collaborative culture and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• CPA designation completed with at least 3 years post-designation experience.
• Experience with owner-managed private clients within public practice; PSAS/US GAAP experience is an asset.
• Proven success in business development, advisory services and team management.
• Ability to build and maintain meaningful client relationships within a dynamic office environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute client engagements, including reviews and compilations with exceptional client service.
• Plan and lead teams, ensuring clear communication of client expectations.
• Proactively solve problems with the team and the client.
• Contribute to the office business plan and participate in performance reviews and coaching of staff.

As a Manager, Assurance [Audit] your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and executing client engagements, including reviews and compilations while providing exceptional client service to a wide variety of business sectors
• Planning and leading teams, ensuring that client expectations are clearly communicated
• Proactive problem solving with the team and the client
• Being a leader in the firm by actively contributing to the development and execution of the office business plan
• Contributing to new business development by understanding Doane Grant Thornton and its service lines, as well as utilizing your credibility with clients
• Participating in the coaching and performance management process of the practice by conducting timely performance reviews, providing ongoing feedback and training to develop junior team members

• Completed a CPA designation, with a minimum of 3 years of post-designation experience
• Experience working with owner managed private business clients within a public practice scope, experience in PSAS or US GAAP would be considered an asset

Our salary ranges are reviewed annually, and where you land within the range depends on a mix of factors—your background, your skills, and how your contributions align with internal equity. To help start the conversation, the current salary range for this role is $88,000–$121,000 in Whitby. If the role is available in other locations, the range may differ to reflect local market factors.
