Job summary

ParaMed is seeking a Pediatric Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to provide in-home care within the Waterloo Region. The role involves scheduled community visits, collaborating with RNs for higher-complexity patients, and supporting families to keep children comfortable at home.

You must hold an active CNO-registered RPN license, have a valid driver's license, and possess pediatric care experience. Travel within the region is required, with on-call shifts and weekend rotations as part of the

  • Provide ethical and safe nursing care
  • Use appropriate assessment tools/techniques to assess patients’ individual needs
  • Execute and continuously monitor care plans and adjust as required
  • Engage patients using a collaborative approach by building rapport and trust
  • Maintain and update professional patient records related to patient encounters and plans

This is a replacement vacancy.

In this community nursing role, you as a Pediatric Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) will have scheduled shifts within the community to care for patients in various settings with the support of RNs for more complex patients. You will work with patients of pediatric ages with differing complexity of care needs and play a key role in helping patients remain comfortable in their homes for as long as possible. This is a Full-Time position, requires travel anywhere within the Waterloo Region.

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • One evening on-call shift per week: 4:30 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
  • Regular weekend on-call rotation: Friday at 4:30 p.m. – Monday at 8:00 a.m.
  • Care for pediatric patients with varying levels of medical complexity, including palliative care
  • HPC training courses required
