Job summary

Compass Early Learning and Care – Northglen Orchards is a newly established program in Bowmanville, opening in September 2026. We are seeking Registered Early Childhood Educators to work across infant to school-age rooms, providing play-based learning and emergent curriculum.

roles involve 35 to 40 hours per week, with shifts between 6:30 am and 6 pm, Monday to Friday. Join a dedicated not-for-profit team that supports families and the community.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience with children/youth.
• Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
• PVSC, First Aid and CPR Level C, plus immunization records up to date.
• Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators, or pursuing the ECE diploma.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead interest-based and play-based activities reflecting children’s interests to support development.
• Maintain active supervision while engaged in play.
• Document learning progress through observation and reflective questions.
• Create a safe, healthy environment for children.
• Assist with diapering, dressing, and eating routines.
• Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in learning.
• Collaborate with coworkers and community partners to support the program.
• Participate in team meetings, professional development, and trainings.
• Assist with housekeeping duties as needed.
• Follow CELC, CCEYA, and Ministry policies and procedures.

Compass Early Learning and Care – Northglen Orchards is a newly established program located in Bowmanville, Ontario, and is anticipated to open in September 2026. Located within the newly built KPR Northglen Orchards Public School in Bowmanville, this vibrant centre will feature an infant room, A toddler room, two preschool rooms, two kindergarten rooms, and two school-age rooms.

About the role:

At Compass ELC Northglen Orchards, we are looking for excited, passionate, and dedicated Registered Early Childhood Educators who will be a part of building the culture and environments within this new program. As an RECE, you will spend your time engaging, connecting, and learning alongside children, families, community partners, and co-workers. You will work alongside the infant, toddler, and preschool, kinder and school age classrooms. You are passionate about early learning and care, play-based learning, emergent curriculum, and lifelong learning. You are energetic, resourceful, and creative in your pursuits of creating learning opportunities, building connections, and engaging with children and families.

These roles will work within the infant, toddler, and preschool, kinder and school age rooms for 35 to 40 hours per week. Hours will be based on program needs and funding. Shift start and end times will fluctuate within the team and will fall within the program hours of 6:30 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday.

Some accountabilities associated with the role include:

• Plan and lead interest-based and play-based activities that reflect children’s unique interests to promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
• Maintain active supervision with children while still being engaged in play.
• Documenting children’s learning progress through observation, reflection, and research questions.
• Create and maintain an environment that protects the health, safety, and well-being of children.
• Assist the children with diapering, dressing, and eating habits.
• Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process.
• Collaborate with coworkers, families, and community partners to create a supportive environment.
• Participate in team meetings, professional learning opportunities, and staff training opportunities.
• Assist with housekeeping duties within the program.
• Follow CELC, CCEYA, and Ministry of Education policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications:

Requirements:

• 1-3 years’ experience working/volunteering with children and youth.
• Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
• Valid certifications include a Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C, and updated immunization records.
• Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • OR; is currently pursuing or interested in pursuing their ECE diploma.
