Job summary

Health Association Nova Scotia in Bedford, NS, is seeking a Payroll Specialist to manage accurate and timely client payrolls within a hybrid work setting. You will work with the Payroll Manager to develop processes, implement new clients, and maintain data integrity while supporting external clients with cloud-based payroll software.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in payroll administration, PCP certification or willingness to obtain it, and strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in payroll administration.
• Knowledge of payroll, benefits, and pension administration.
• Payroll Compliance Professional Certificate (PCP) or willingness to obtain one.
• Experience with payroll system solutions (Payworks, ADP, Ceridian) and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse individuals.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work in a high-paced environment.
• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving payroll system issues.

Responsibilities

• Process client payrolls accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with established procedures and standards.
• Perform payroll support and other payroll related processes.
• Provide customer service to external clients, responding to inquiries and resolving payroll-related issues.
• Enter and maintain client payroll schedules and data.
• Troubleshoot client issues with cloud-based payroll software (e.g., Payworks, ADP), offering viable solutions and support.
• Assist in the development and implementation of payroll processes for new and existing clients.
• Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, payroll policies, and applicable regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.
