Overview
Worldpac, a leading provider of automotive parts, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team in Oak Brook, IL. This role will be instrumental in managing payroll processes for our Canadian operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Workday and will collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments to streamline payroll processes and ensure data integrity.
Responsibilities
- Utilize Workday for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees, including regular pay, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
- Verify employee hours and pay rates to ensure correctness.
- Ensure that payroll processes comply with all applicable federal, provincial, and local tax laws, labor laws, and internal policies. Stay current on changes to tax codes and labor regulations to ensure continuous compliance.
- Generate and review payroll reports for accuracy, including deductions, benefits, tax withholdings, and bonuses. Provide detailed reports to management when required.
- Ensure that all payroll taxes (federal, provincial, and local) are accurately calculated and paid in a timely manner. Assist in the preparation of year-end reports such as T4s, RL-1s, and other payroll-related documentation.
- Handle employee inquiries related to payroll discrepancies, benefit deductions, and tax withholding. Resolve any issues related to payroll errors or omissions promptly.
- Manage payroll software, ensuring it is updated and functioning properly. Assist in troubleshooting any payroll system issues and collaborate with IT or other teams as necessary to resolve them.
- Assist with internal and external payroll audits, ensuring the accuracy of payroll data and compliance with regulations. Prepare documentation and provide supporting data as needed.
- Identify areas where payroll processes can be streamlined or improved and suggest enhancements for increased efficiency and accuracy.
- Work closely with HR, finance, and benefits teams to ensure proper employee classification, deductions, and other payroll-related matters. Collaborate on payroll-related projects and initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred, would accept experience in leu of degree.
- 1-5 years of experience in payroll, with specific experience in Workday preferred
- Strong understanding of Canadian payroll regulations and reporting requirements.
- Ability to speak French is a plus but not required.
- Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting payroll processes and integrations within Workday.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining data accuracy and confidentiality.
- Experience with payroll system implementation or upgrade projects is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work at a computer workstation for extended periods.
- Occasionally lift or move items up to 15 pounds.
Pay Range
USD $70,000.00 - USD $90,000.00 /Yr.
