Job summary

Maersk is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our payroll team in Vancouver. You will process end-to-end bi-weekly payroll accurately, validate time records, and ensure compliance with employment standards and company policies.

The role requires ADP payroll knowledge, advanced Excel skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with HR, Operations, and Finance while meeting tight deadlines. Prior union payroll experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience.
  • Experience using ADP payroll systems.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll practices and legislation.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Able to work independently and in a team.
  • PCP designation or working towards certification.
  • Experience with unionized payroll or collective bargaining agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time.
  • Review, validate, and reconcile time records and payroll data.
  • Calculate and process overtime, holiday pay, PTO, and retroactive adjustments.
  • Process payroll changes: new hires, terminations, updates.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from employees.
  • Maintain payroll records and documentation.
  • Support reconciliations, reporting, audits, and year-end activities.
  • Collaborate with HR, Operations, and Finance to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist with payroll process improvements and documentation.
  • Support payroll administration for unionized employees.

About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our payroll team.
