We are looking for a dynamic and collaborative Payroll Specialist to join our Finance team and make a lasting impact on our forward-thinking organization and rapidly-growing community! In this position, you will report into the Supervisor, Accounting and Budgets (Operating) and will be responsible for analyzing, calculating, verifying, and processing the Corporation’s biweekly and monthly payrolls, deductions, and statutory remittances in accordance with legislative requirements, collective agreements, and in keeping with the Corporation’s policies.

Directly in line with the Town of Innisfil’s Strategic Plan 2030, you will take a “Future Ready” approach to your work, and will also be responsible for:

  • Reviewing all payroll payments or deductions; processing all employee timesheets (physical and digital); calculating and reviewing the payroll register to ensure compliance with legislative requirements, collective agreements, and Municipal policies
  • Calculating payroll adjustments including retroactive payments resulting from merit increases and collective agreement ratifications, benefit premium changes, garnishments
  • Processing all final payments and issues all record of employment (ROE), forms for terminations, retirements, maternity and/or parental leaves
  • Preparing and submitting pension related information includingbiweekly deductions, leaves of absence and disability buybacks, and year end reporting
Job Requirements

The preferred candidate holds:

  • Minimumtwo (2) year Community College Diploma in Business or Accounting or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years experience with payroll functions. Experience with payroll functions for medium to large employers, multiple union groups, and/or municipal experience is an asset.
  • Candidates without a related college diploma may be considered if they have a minimum of six (6) to eight (8) years of experience with payroll functions.
  • Completion of Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification or other specialized payroll designation such as those offered through the Canadian Payroll Association or Certificate in payroll.
  • A valid Class “G” driver’s license and a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.
  • Availability to attend evening meetings or other events, if necessary.
