Job summary

The Boyd Group is seeking a Payroll Manager in Winnipeg, Manitoba to lead payroll operations for U.S. and Canadian employees in a high‑volume, multi‑jurisdictional environment. You’ll own Workday and ADP integrations and guide a payroll team of about 16 people.

The role emphasizes regulatory compliance, SOX controls, and cross‑functional collaboration with Legal, HR, Tax and Finance. A Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years’ experience or equivalent is required, with payroll leadership experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (or equivalent experience) plus 4+ years in payroll operations in a multi‑jurisdictional environment.
  • Minimum 1 year of payroll leadership overseeing a team of 10+ employees (2+ direct reports).
  • Experience with Workday and ADP strongly preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of U.S. federal, state, local, and Canadian payroll rules and wage-and-hour compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day payroll operations for 14,000 U.S. and 2,000 Canadian employees across weekly and biweekly cycles.
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, reconciliation, review, and compliance of payroll outputs.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and escalation for complex payroll issues.
  • Oversee payroll controls, audits, and SOX-related requirements.
