Job Summary:

The Payroll Manager will join the B/OSS Group Finance team to own payroll processing in the USA and Canada. The B/OSS Group is a subset of 17 businesses around the globe. The Group is seeking an adaptable candidate who is eager to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. This team member will be an integral point person in processing payroll for US and Canada’s employees at the Group level and a selected number of businesses. This person will also have oversight in training, reviewing, auditing, and mentoring payroll for the remaining Business Units globally.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, verify, and process all B/OSS Group Canadian and US employee payroll related payments and regulatory remittances.
  • Responsible for payroll related compliance obligations including but not limited to payroll related filings and supporting documentation, such as year-end tax statements, pension, Record of Employment, EHT payments, and other government filings and payments.
  • Keep abreast of changes in wage/tax laws and escalate potential required changes for review. Once approved, assist in implementing changes as appropriate.
  • Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability payments, and non-taxable wages.
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the benefits and payroll services are delivered on time and accurately.
  • Process new hires, terminations, and other employee changes and ensure they are paid accurately and timely, in accordance with applicable local legislation.
  • Partner with HR and Finance teams to process annual merit increases, retroactive payments, and applicable annual bonuses (which have both a cash and share component).
  • Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies, including communicating with impacted employees, ensuring that key stakeholders are consulted and informed.
  • Support new acquisitions, payroll onboarding, and system integrations.
  • Collaborate to evaluate and implement process improvement projects in payroll and related areas, including documentation of processes and integration with other systems, including assessing existing payroll processes and recommending improvements.
  • Support the quarterly and annual financial statement audit.
  • Good organizational skills and time management to follow payroll deadlines across the business.
  • Complete other duties and projects as may be required.

Qualifications:

  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or equivalent designation.
  • 5+ years of experience processing both Canada and US payroll.
  • Preference for candidates with Workday experience.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now (WFN) and NetSuite is an asset.
  • Experience with EMEA payroll compliance is an asset.
  • Strong organizational skillsets with excellent attention to detail.
  • Effectively communicates (verbal, written, and presentation) with internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Embraces technology-enabled solutions and processes.
