KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with the completion of the daily duties of the payroll team along with the completion of bi-weekly payroll, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Ensure accurate account balances and compliance with all Christenson Communities Policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all employment legislation and regulatory guidelines such as EHT, CPP, EI, WCB, Income Tax, pension & benefit contributions, etc.
  • Manage year-end reconciliation processes including government reporting, preparation of annual returns, and production and distribution of tax forms.
  • Foster an environment that emphasizes knowledge sharing.
  • Encourage cross-area cooperation, collaboration, and communication to create consensus and accomplish objectives.
  • Ensure that all payroll information, files, and records are maintained in accordance with corporate policies and local statutes.
  • Administer benefits and RRSP, conduct audits, and ensure reporting is complete.
  • Develop and maintain a good working rapport with all staff members and departments.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent employee information.
  • Protect own health and the health of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately, and attending all relevant in-services regarding occupational health and safety. Follow all guidelines for employees and employers as legislated under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Education & Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in Payroll & Benefits Administration.
  • Minimum 5 years’ recent experience with an integrated payroll system.
  • CPM designation or working towards this with the Canadian Payroll Association would be an asset.
  • Experience with Benefits and RRSP Administration – Working with Canada Life would be considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of payroll compliance.
Additional Information:
  • Ability to travel to sites within Alberta (<10%).
  • Salary range is $60k-$75k annually.
  • Experience with UKG (Ultimate Software/Kronos) an asset.
  • Experience in a Continuing Care/Healthcare setting is an asset.
