The successful candidate will handle payroll processing, HRIS administration, pension administration, benefits enrollment, and related reporting,

Qualifications

  • College diploma in payroll or finance is required and a payroll designation is desirable.
  • 3–5 years of payroll experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting; unionized environment is a plus.
  • Experience with ADP Dayforce or other payroll systems is required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the HR Manager with day-to-day Labour Relations/Employee Relations in line with the Collective Agreement and legislation.
  • Process weekly payroll and HRIS administration, including auditing hours and COLA updates.
  • Administer monthly/annual pension processes (CWIPP) and manage new hires and retirees.

Job Title: Payroll and Benefits Administrator

Reports To: Human Resources Manager

Summary: The Payroll and Benefits Administrator is responsible for acting as a support to all internal clients and will facilitate and manage the payroll function for the organization. This role will collaborate with the HR Manager and Supervisor/Managers by offering support and guidance on benefits, payroll and systems administration. This role will also promote, encourage, and foster a positive and cooperative environment in collaboration with the union, leadership, and employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Specific Duties for this position include:
  • Support the HR Manager in supporting day-to-day Labour Relations/Employee Relations matters In compliance with the Collective Agreement and legislation
  • Execute the weekly Payroll and HRIS Administration ), including but not limited to auditing hours: Quarterly COLA updates/administration
  • Monthly/Annual Pension administration (CWIPP); ensuring tiered earnings, administering new hires, retirees, etc.
  • Vacation and Banked Hours Tracking
  • Provide general reporting and support data requests
  • Union Dues and Education fund calculations and submission
  • Safety Boot and Tool Allowance tracking
  • Provide administrative support to include:
  • Preparing employment contracts and facilitate new hire/termination paperwork
  • Arranging and facilitating orientation, and onboarding
  • Maintain employee files
  • Provide recruiting support, preparing and posting internal/external job postings, scheduling interviews, etc.
  • Support the employee benefit plan by enrolling employees in a timely manner, ensuring documentation is secured and employee education on their benefits is conducted. Oversee the service awards program
  • Manage company events such as Christmas luncheon, etc.
  • Process HR related invoices
  • General Duties:
  • Perform all work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act / Occupational Health & Safety Administration, and company policies and procedures.
  • Complete all job tasks in a timely manner while maintaining quality results.
  • Maintain all necessary documentation.
  • Ensure that his/her workstation area is kept clean and orderly daily.
  • Use all tools and equipment properly.
  • Assist in other areas of the department when required.
  • Train new and/or other workers as required to perform the job tasks.
  • Improve level of knowledge and skills through additional training.

  • Education:
  • College Diploma in Payroll or Finance
  • Actively working toward a payroll designation
  • Experience:
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ related payroll experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment; unionized experience would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of, and experience managing and processing Payroll
  • Experience with ADP Dayforce or other payroll systems is required.
  • Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos in the English language; demonstrated ability to write simple correspondence; demonstrated ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations with suppliers, technical representatives, or other employees.

  • Mathematical Ability:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Demonstrated ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Demonstrated ability to apply calculus, advanced geometry and trigonometry to problem solving.

  • Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several distinct variables in standardized situations.

  • Computer Skills:

Experience and proficiency in the MS Suite of products, Dayforce, SAP and other cloud-based applications
