Job description

Summary:

Under the supervision of the Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Administrator will handle daily updates and transactions to support the payroll program, process bi-weekly pay submissions, prepare reports and reconciliations, and serve as a resource for other departments within the Fort McKay Group of Companies.

This is a safety-sensitive position that requires completion of pre-employment/pre-access testing.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide guidance and support regarding payroll inquiries to site-based teams and employees.
  2. Review and process daily payroll transactions, including ROEs, pay rate and position changes, and special payment requests.
  3. Process site-based payroll submissions for bi-weekly pay runs.
  4. Verify the accuracy of salaried and corporate timesheets against leave requests and maintain the Corporate Leave Tracker system.
  5. Record, prepare, and remit union remittances according to scheduled timelines.
  6. Prepare internal reports for payroll stakeholders.
  7. Identify and correct payroll errors, ensuring the integrity of the payroll system.
  8. Adhere strictly to company policies and procedures, focusing on financial controls and HR administration.
  9. Maintain awareness of provincial and federal privacy laws related to personal information collection.
  10. Stay informed about current payroll legislation.
  11. Participate in general administrative activities within the Payroll Department.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
  1. Ability to work independently and multitask effectively, as well as collaborate within a team.
  2. Strong knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards.
  3. Familiarity with Service Canada processes and procedures.
  4. Good analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  5. Commitment to continuous learning through cross-training and skill development.
Additional Details:

This is a full-time position based in Fort McMurray, AB.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day.
